FlipSidez
FlipSidez is a company that sells flip flop shoes with custom CNC cut designs in the soles, so that when you walk down the beach, your footprints leave a copy of the design as you go.
While working at i-Tul, this was one of my first projects as lead developer. In fact, I wrote nearly all of the code for this site myself. We started off the same way we created many ecommerce sites in those days, by integrating WordPress for the marketing pages, and OpenCart for the eCommerce side. I wrote a custom WordPress theme, custom OpenCart theme, and all of the CSS and HTML structure. The result was a pixel perfect interpretation of the proofs provided by the design team.
I wrote the code for the builder tool using JavaScript with HTML5 canvas and the fabric.js library as a base, as well as a backend in PHP which creates EPS files for the CNC cutting machines based on the data collected from the builder tool on the front end. The result is that we show almost photo-realistic examples of the design in real time, as the customer is designing it. Administrators also have access to a special version of the builder tool which can create all the thumbnails needed for the ready to order designs automatically. FlipSidez remains to this day one of my proudest achievements.
